Ng Wah Sum, AKA lightning hands, was one of the last of the Wing Chun fighting Champions from Grandmaster Yip Mans School.
Retired from work, he would teach Wing Chun at the association. When in Hong Kong with my students I would often meet him after morning training sessions, as he taught after Master Ip Chun’s class.
In the late 1960's Ng was one of the Wing Chun fighters that brought credit and fame to Wing Chun fighting. Grandmaster Ip Man was very proud of his student.
Ng Wah Sum was a classmate and friend of Bruce Lee. He told me once that Bruce Lee's main assault move was Bil Jee into chain punches, groin kick and low side kick. I was fortunate to learn a little Chi Gerk from him. We would often talk fight science when I visited Hong Kong.
It’s really sad that he has gone - a great loss to the Yip Man Wing Chun family and Wing Chun Kung Fu. One Behalf of East Anglia Wing Chun Members we send our condolences to all his family close friend and students. Now at rest with many other great kung fu brothers .

I've just found a very interesting clip. An interview with Ip Chun at the HQ in Mong Kok. By the looks of it, it must have been filmed right around the time we were training there. Enjoy.

Hong Kong and China Tour 2008
On November 20th, 2008, a group of 10 students were led by Sifu Brian Desir on a two week tour of Hong Kong and China.
During that time, the students would train like never before, taking every opportunity to learn from the students and instructors in the spiritual homeland of the art of Wing Chun.
A full report will be added soon; for now, there are a few pictures available in the album section.
A short video follows of Sifu Brian and Sihing Dan playing Chi Sao at the Bruce Lee Paradise, a museum dedicated to the legend himself.
Ip Man Film Launch, November 30th 2008
If you haven't seen the film yet, make sure you do! Dedicated to the late Grand Master this film is a bio-epic of Ip Man's life, starring Donnie Yen.
As the East Anglia Wing Chun Athletic club was nearby, we were invited to take part in a large demonstration at the Hollywood Plaza in Hong Kong to launch the film.
It was a great honour for us to be invited, and share in the moment with both Ip Chun, and the star Donnie Yen.
Penzance Seminar 2008
Early in the year, Sifu Brian held a seminar in Penzance. One of the highlights of the seminar was his valuable insight into the art of Chi Sao ("sticking hands"), which has become for many the trade mark of Wing Chun. In this video we see Sihing Graham and Sihing Dan playing Chi Sao, before Sifu Brian demonstrates the practical applications which develop from learning in this tactile style.
